Prepare, Protect, and Communicate: Insights from Bill Anderson on Ready Radio
Are you truly prepared for life’s unexpected moments? This week on Ready Radio, host John Rush and guest Bill Anderson tackled critical topics to help you protect yourself, your family, and your home. Bill, a U.S. Army veteran, master electrician, HVAC expert, and certified firearms instructor, shared expert insights into preparedness, self-defense, and communication strategies.
The show explored practical steps to enhance your readiness. Are you equipped to handle a medical emergency? Bill emphasized the importance of training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Stop the Bleed techniques, which are more likely to save lives than self-defense scenarios. He also stressed the value of realistic self-defense training to mitigate risks during high-stakes situations.
Winter preparedness was another key topic. Are you taking the right steps to protect your home from the cold? Bill highlighted essential tips, such as disconnecting outdoor hoses, maintaining HVAC systems, and safely using space heaters. He urged listeners to adopt a lifestyle of readiness by stocking essential supplies and prioritizing preventative maintenance.
The discussion also delved into emergency communication. What would you do if cell service failed? Bill outlined a layered approach to communication, using tools like GMRS and ham radios while planning for secure and redundant alternatives, such as MISTastic systems. Pre-planned communication protocols with loved ones were also emphasized as a crucial component of preparedness.
Looking ahead, Bill talked about upcoming seminars on home invasion and carjacking scenarios and trauma response training to help participants build practical, life-saving skills. To find out more, email Bill at Bill@arkehc.com.

“I don’t consider us a quote-unquote “prepper show.” I consider us a show to handle the “what-ifs” of life. And that could be everything from, yes, a global disaster or a simple bike crash, a car accident, or you fall on the ice. I mean, there are all sorts of things that come along that create a crisis, and I want to give people a way to prevent those and or handle them when they come along.” – John Rush
